Crawford County Fair Quilt Block & Raffle Winners

The Quilt Block Jamboree contest at the fair kicked off Wednesday evening and continued through to Sunday. Quilt blocks were on display throughout the fair, giving fairgoers an opportunity to vote on their favorite blocks. Margaret Davidson, rural Soldiers Gove, was people's choice for first place with her green and cream geometric pattern. She was awarded a $50.00 gift certificate from the Pickett Fence in Prairie du Chien. Jean Fillbach, of Steuben, won the $30.00 gift certificate from Front Porch Quilts, Prairie du Chien, for her second place finish with a green and lavender pattern. Mary Kuhn, rural Soldiers Grove, was the third place recipient with her patchwork block of an apple tree and received a $20.00 gift certificate from Quilt Basket 'N Creations of Viroqua.

A new event this year was a raffle with the proceeds earmarked for a new building on the fair grounds. Prizes were donated by area residents and businesses. Deanne Hromadka won a quilt made from blocks entered in last year's Jamboree; Wendy Adkins won the second quilt made from 2012 quilt blocks; Nola Nagel won a bench donated by Lee Jeffers; Rebecca Bjurquist won a bench donated by Jones' Accounting and she also won a sweatshirt and two passes to the 2014 Stump Dodger Bash donated by Showen Signs & Excavating; Chad Kansier won a pair of blue bird prints donated by Nancy Dowling; Kevin Walleser won a T-shirt, glass and gift certificate for two fish dinners from the Last Call Bar & Grill; Doug Kowalski won maple syrup donated by Bob Dowling and the $15.00 gift certificate from the Village Greenhouse; Rick Halverson won a Wisconsin Badger "W" shepherd's hook from Wolf Machining; Steve Prochaska won a shepherd's hook with deer emblem from Wolf Machining; Tracy Johnsrude won a $20.00 gift certificate from Mickelson's Market; Jane Baker won a year's subscription from the Crawford County Independent; Bob Sherwood won a $15.00 gift certificate from the Apple'licious Pie Depot.

Crawford County Fair is inviting anyone to enter a quilt block (limit of 3) in the "Piece of Crawford County."

On Wednesday evening, August 7, 2013, starting at 6:00 pm, we will display all quilt blocks entered and the public will begin voting for the "Peoples Choice" quilt block starting that Wednesday evening and continuing to noon on Sunday. (Winner to be announced Sunday at noon.)

One Rule: quilt block must be 12 ½ inches square (any color, pattern or material)
[quilt blocks will be displayed throughout the fair and become the property of the fair]

1st Place:	$50.00 Gift Certificate from Pickett Fence, Prairie du Chien
2nd Place:	$30.00 Gift Certificate from Front Porch Quilts, Prairie du Chien
3rd Place:	$20.00 Gift Certificate from Quilt Basket 'N' Creations, Viroqua
